In a market with rising potential, it is fairly important to know the timing and to schedule the necessary equipment ASAP.

In 2018, juice concentrate was in the top 20 of the ranking of the main exported Mexican agri-food products, with 469 million pesos, compared to onions and mangoes.

The main juice importing countries are the United States, the Netherlands and France. Holland and Belgium stand out in the market. The first, for being an important hub for the distribution of imported juice all over northern Europe and the last for being the headquarters of one of the giants of the juice packaging sector, receiving and processing even huge ships, similar to oil tankers, of natural juice.

Handled by experts

The peak export season for frozen juice concentrate is at the end of October and November.

At Europartners Group, we are experts transporting frozen juice concentrate to northern Europe, but we are also part of a network of trustworthy agents when exporting from Mexico to Asia (Japan, China and South Korea, together, are the third largest market in the world for importing Mexican concentrate), as well as to Central America, Colombia, Venezuela and Puerto Rico, other major consumers.

From our more than 70 offices in 19 countries, we can design plans tailor-made to your export needs.

Juice concentrate is the second cheapest commodity when moved by maritime transport (the first is bananas) and, although it does not need the same special equipment as avocados or berries, it does need refrigerated containers that must be reserved with the shipping companies with at least a few weeks in advance.

Precise equipment

In peak seasons, companies that produce and export juice –concentrated mainly in the states of Veracruz (Martínez de la Torre), San Luis Potosí, Nuevo León (Montemorelos and Ramos Arizpe) and Colima– contribute a lot to the local market, renting all the nearby refrigerated warehouses.

The main ports of departure for juice concentrate from Mexico are Veracruz and Altamira. Altamira warehouses are quite demanded, but we can help you build a complete logistics plan, supporting you with storage, insurance and also to get more benefits from your own contracts with shipping companies.

The juice concentrate is exported in metal or plastic drums, generally with a 200 liters capacity or using a smaller one, with 40 liters.

As the juice concentrate is not a living product (it does not breathe), it can be handled and transported using standard 40-foot-high-cube containers, refrigerated between -18 and -23°C, with closed ventilation.

This type of equipment prevents heat exchange. A good container takes 24 hours to lose 2°C, even if it’s not connected to a power source; it would take two or three days (not connected at all) for the product to defrost; however, they are also built to prevent heat from escaping, with “adiabatic” walls.

“The number of 40-foot-high-cube containers necessary to meet the demand in juice export peak seasons is not available Mexico. We must schedule with the shipping companies in advance,” warn our experts in Ocean freight at Europartners Group. That is why the forecast is essential.

Fun facts

  • The concentrated juice is obtained by evaporating its water. To reconstitute it, it is only necessary to add the same amount of water evaporated during the concentration process.
